My Lord,

In continuation of my despatch No. 283 of the 5th of last November I have the honour to transmit the enclosed extract from a letter by Mr. A.G.M. Fletcher written from the Offices of the Official Receiver in Bankruptcy for the London and Suburban and Southern District, together with a copy of the Trade Marks Ordinance now in force in Hongkong, and of the Regulations made thereunder.

I also enclose an extract from a memorandum by the Assistant Colonial Secretary dated the 11th of last April showing the procedure in connection with the registration of trade marks.

In view of the opinion expressed by Mr. R. Griffin, I have the honour to make application that the Hongkong register of trade marks may be given a status separate from and similar to that of the English register in any convention that may be concluded with China, Japan or Corea.
